20-21 September 2018, the third china-international organ donation conference was held as scheduled in Xi’an, the ancient capital. The conference was sponsored by the National Health and Wellness Commission and Red Cross Society of China, hosted by the China organ donation and Transplantation Commission and the China Organ Donation Administration Center, co-organized by the Shaanxi Provincial Health and Family Planning Commission and the Shaanxi Provincial Red Cross Society, and hosted by the No. 1 Affiliated Hospital of the Xi’an Jiaotong University.
Huang Jiefu, chairman of the Chinese Committee for Human Organ Donation and transplantation, Guo Yanhong, deputy director of the Medical Administration Bureau of the National Health Commission, and Wang Ping, vice chairman and secretary-general of the Red Cross Society of China, attended the meeting.
Organ donation and transplantation are related to the value and dignity of life and the fairness and Justice of society. Since January 1,2015, China has completely stopped the use of organs from executed prisoners, and voluntary donation by citizens has become the only legal source of transplanted organs. The theme of the last conference was“Organ transplantation in China on the world stage”, while the theme of this conference is“Organ transplantation in China on the world stage”, this shows that the cause of organ transplantation in our country is gradually out of line with China’s reality, to the international public view of the road.
According to statistics, “As of September 9 this year, 614608 people in our country have registered for voluntary organ donation, with 19,380 cases and 54,956 organs donated”, ranking first in Asia and third in the world. It is estimated that China will become the world’s largest transplant country in 2020.
At the meeting, member Huang Jiefu made a relevant report, publicizing the system of organ transplantation work in our country to China and the world, and announced that our country has realized the historical transformation of citizens’ voluntary donation as the only legal source of transplanted organs! Other leaders from all walks of life, foreign experts and so on also make the related work deployment and the Congress report.

At the following organ transplant academic exchange conference and kidney transplant sub-conference, professor Zhu Tongyu of Sun Yat-sen hospital affiliated to Fudan University was also an invited guest, the 2018 American organ transplantation conference (ATC-RRB- research hotspots were interpreted for you. Professor Zhu’s in-depth explanation won warm applause from the guests and audience.

Although organ transplantation in China is gradually moving towards the international market, due to the late start of related work and the large social demand for transplanted organs, the existing number can not meet the needs of patient groups for organ transplantation. This conference affirmed the success of China’s transformation, but also pointed out the goal of further improving the donation laws, regulations and policy mechanisms in line with our national conditions in the future, therefore, organ transplantation in our country still has a long way to go.
But with more standardized and orderly organ donation and transplantation, we have reason to believe that more and more patients will be treated under the sun of the“Chinese Model”!
