Forum on innovation in organ transplantation: understanding the latest developments in the field of transplantation

February 19,2022, the Organ Transplantation Innovation Forum was held at Ben Giang Avenue, Pudong New Area, Shanghai, organised by the Medical Service Professional Committee of Shanghai Federation of Modern Service Industry, Shanghai Key Laboratory of Organ Transplantation, Shanghai Immunology Society and Fenglin Medical Innovation.

The meeting was chaired by Fudan University Shanghai Medical College Vice President, Director of Medical Services Committee of Shanghai Federation of Modern Service Industries, director of Shanghai Key Laboratory of Organ Transplantation, director of Shanghai Medical Big Data Innovation Laboratory, and professor Zhu Tongyu of Department of Urology, Sun Yat-sen Hospital, Fudan University.

This conference focuses on the frontier knowledge in the fields of organ transplantation diagnosis, treatment, prevention and treatment of postoperative complications, etc. , in addition, the most popular topic in the field of organ transplantation-xenotransplantation was also discussed. The keynote speeches were delivered by Prof. Xu Jianqing, Prof. Wu Nannan, Prof. Chen Zhonghua, Prof. Wang Xianghui, Prof. Huang Xingxu and Prof. . Wang Yi. Finding a balance between the prevention of rejection and infection after transplantation has always been a difficult and important task in the field of organ transplantation, keynote Fudan University on“Cell therapy and organ transplantation”, “Development of BKV vaccines and antibody drugs”, and“Progress in AMR prevention, treatment and immune risk monitoring and assessment in kidney transplantation” were delivered by Professor Xu Jianqing, a Distinguished Distinguished Professor and researcher of the Institute of Biomedicine, Professor Wu Nannan, an associate researcher of the Shanghai Municipal Clinical Center for Public Health, and professor Wang Xianghui, director of the Research Office of the Ruijin Hospital Organ Transplantation Center, this paper introduces the new progress in the field of prevention and treatment of complications after organ transplantation.

On January 7,2022, a team of surgeons at the University of Maryland School of Medicine successfully transplanted the heart of a genetically modified pig into a 57-year-old male patient, marking the first time a pig’s heart has been transplanted into a human, the success of human pig heart transplantation is of subversive significance, which makes people look forward to the future of xenotransplantation.
