
In December 2014, Karmin O, a visiting professor of Shanghai Key Laboratory of Organ Transplantation and professor of Manitoba University in Canada, participated in the Nanjing International Academic Forum on Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western medicine nephrology held in Nanjing. The speakers of this forum are famous, including many top experts in the field of kidney disease from Europe and . Professor Karmino’s presentation at the conference, entitled“Regulatory mechanisms of oxidative stress in acute kidney injury and chronic kidney disease”, was well received. Regulation of blood levels of homocysteine and hydrogen sulfide is a new target for prevention and treatment of acute kidney injury, Professor Karmino said in the report. After the meeting, Professor Karmino paid a visit to the key laboratory of organ transplantation in Shanghai, gave work guidance and made a report on the academic meeting, both sides have conducted in-depth exchanges and reached consensus on the next step of scientific research cooperation.
