Kidney transplantation, also known as renal transplantation, is a surgical procedure in which a healthy kidney is transplanted into a patient with uremia to restore kidney function. Like hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis, renal transplantation is a form of renal replacement therapy for patients with uremia and is often the preferred treatment option.
